My Raw and Smackdown Roster Predictions

For those who missed my previous message on the topic, the brand split is happening this summer. Given the number of underutilized talent on their large roster, it’s a good time to split the brand again. What I missed was Smackdown will mostly highlight the Superstars of The New Era. That makes the division a bit easier to figure out.

Here are my predictions for who will go to each show. The fun part of doing these predictions is seeing how they match what actually happens. I actually worked on this throughout much of the month. I decided to post this now that Teddy Long and Kane have made their presence known and felt.

Shane McMahon and Kane will be the Co-GMs of RAW.

…It goes without saying they’re gonna have to bring back the three retired titles for the brand split. They have the right talent to bring back the Hardcore Championship as well. I don’t see the Announcers’ tables changing. I’m fine if the GM choices are flipped by the way.

A few websites reported the Intercontinental Championship will stay with RAW while the US Championship will go to Smackdown last week. Several sources also announced AJ Styles and John Cena will likely go to Smackdown so AJ can have a Championship run. Roman Reigns (current WWE Champion), Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are also expected to go to Smackdown to help anchor the brand as an established superstar.

Presumably, Reigns will lose the title because of the brand split if the Money in the Bank contract winner doesn;’t cash in the same night. I also expect Randy Orton to be back in time for thr brand split. Orton was the first WWE Superstar to hold the unified Champion when he and Cena were the Champions of RAW and Smackdown.

I did not put The Rock on either roster because who who he is: Smackdown is HIS show when he was an active WWE Superstar. When he makes appearances, it will be cross-brand just like it was during the first brand split.

Finally, I gave RAW a slightly bigger roster since most of the NXT’s new talent will likely debut on Smackdown or at a PPV event instead. Speaking of PPV events, WWE announced over the weekend there will be two PPVs a month after the brand split. They can certainly afford it so…yeah.
