The first person announced for the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame class is arguably the most legendary name in the history of pro wrestling ever: The Undertaker.
If WWE decides not to induct anyone else into the Hall of Fame this year, this would still easily be biggest Hall of Fame ceremony EVER. Commenting on his eventual Hall of Fame induction last year in an interview, ‘Taker said he can only think of one person he would ask to induct him and that person know knows already. You don’t need to think about it to know that person is none other than Vince McMahon. ‘Taker revealed this himself during his five part documentary in 2020.
WWE is likely having trouble finding people to induct for this year’s Hall of Fame. The Pandemic is still a factor but aside from that, there is also the issue of finding noteworthy people who are available and are able to be there in person. The Rock being inducted next year makes the most sense and more so since it’ll be in Los Angeles. Same for Batista, who was originally planned to be a part of the 2020 Hall of Fame class. All I can really say at this point is WWE has its work cut out finding people in general.
Coincidentally, the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony date was also announced. It will take place on April 1 immediately following Smackdown on Peacock (U.S.) and WWE Network (outside the U.S.).
As a reminder, Wrestlemania will be a 2-night event and in the past, it was always the night before ‘Mania. I am holding out hope WWE changes the date and time personally–maybe sometime in March–because that time slot’s a bit too much for the live crowd after having sat through 2 hours of Smackdown and then potentially another 2 hours for the Hall of Fame induction. Just saying.
